2020 Appeal

Greetings!

Hartwood Foundation celebrates 47 years of service this year. From our early beginnings as a family cooperative organization sharing resources to the public-private community service organization of today, Hartwood has remained an innovator in the development of community-based residential and respite services for persons with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

We talk often at Hartwood about our three operational imperatives – those things we must get right consistently, day after day in order to stay true to our mission: Promoting and maintaining the health and safety of the individuals we support; Complying with our own internal policies and external regulatory requirements; and Pursuing best practices that result in an enhanced quality of life for our participants.

Your past donations have helped us to meet those operational imperatives year after year. From funding modifications necessary to create and maintain comfortable, barrier-free homes to “sponsorships” for vacation trips to Virginia Beach and Lake Anna for those who might not otherwise be able to afford them. Further, your generosity has allowed us to fund not only specialized medical and adaptive equipment (lifts and wheelchair vans), but also touch tablets (iPads), arts and crafts supplies and individual memberships to community clubs. After all, it is that third operational imperative that makes everything worthwhile.

Please give generously as you have in the past. With your help we can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

With warmest regards,

Christian A. Brown, President
